A helicopter carrying ballot boxes crashed in southwestern Iran
Governor-general of Khouzestan Province in Iran on Saturday announced crash of a helicopter carrying ballot boxes in Dezful in southwestern Iran, Iran news agency reported. According to the source, in the crash, one of the passengers of the helicopter, who is said to be one of the fund's security guards, was killed and 11 more people were injured.
The 13th presidential election was held simultaneous with the sixth round of city and village councils elections, the first mid-term for 11th parliament’s by-election, and the second mid-term for the fifth Assembly of Experts election. Iran’s presidential election was held nationwide and in 133 countries on June 18, and the election was due to end at 24:00 a.m. local time, but it was extended to 02:00 a.m. on June 19.
Over 59 million Iranians were eligible to vote. Vote counting started as soon as the extended time ended.
