Polls close in Armenian snap elections
Voting in Armenia’s snap parliamentary elections ended at 8pm, followed by the vote court.
As of 5pm, the voter turnout stood at 38.17% or 989,972 of the total number of voters.
The final data on the voter turnout will be released in an hour.
21 parties and four blocs took part in the early parliamentary elections. The parties have to win at least 5% of the vote to be represented in the National Assembly. The vote threshold for alliances is 7%. At least three political forces must be represented in parliament.
Under the Armenian law, the preliminary results of the elections must be summed up on the next day of voting, by 8pm and the final results – on the seventh day from the day of voting.
If a governing majority is not won, a second-round between the two biggest political forces will be held.
