Voter turnout exceeds 40% in Yerevan, Syunik, Vayots Dzor and Tavush as of 5pm
The voter turnout in the ongoing snap parliamentary elections in Armenia stood at 38.17% as of 5pm Sunday, according to updated data released by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).
Speaking at a news conference, CEC Secretary Armen Smbatyan said 989,972 voters out of total 2,593,572 eligible voters took part in the polls.
According to the data, voters are more active in southern Syunik Province, where 51.353 people have voted out of 109,726 eligible voters, accounting for 46.83% of the total number of voters.
In Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, 40.15% of voters have gone to the polls, 41.37% of eligible votes cast ballot in Tavush and 42.66% - in Vayots Dzor provinces.
