Actions by the authorities aimed at disrupting the opposition activity on the voting day - Davit Harutyunyan
Number of employees of "I'm Honored" pre-election bloc offices were arrested on Friday, including Gor Sedrakyan, a candidate for MP. Member of the bloc's headquarters, RPA representative Davit Harutyunyan insists the decisions about arrests are illegal, while the one about the arrest of Gor Sedrakyan contains crimes envisaged by Article 309 of the Criminal Code.
"There is no doubt that these actions are solely aimed at disrupting the opposition activity on the voting day," Harutyunyan said, adding the decision of the law enforcement have been appealed in the court in due course, yet the investigators didn't appear at the hearing, citing their busy schedule. "Moreover, they have petitioned to reschedule the hearing to 23.00, trying to artificially keep the opposition members in custody until the end of the voting day," said Harutyunyan.
The RPA member, however, praised the court decision not to yield to pressures, giving an hour for investigator to appear at the hearing.
