FAO, Ministry of Environment sign new agreement to increase Armenia’s forest cover
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Ministry of Environment signed a new agreement to increase Armenia’s forest cover and carbon removal from forests, UN in Armenia reported on Monday.
The new 8-year project will be supported by the Green Climate Fund and aims to increase forest cover by 2.5 %, reduce the fuelwood demand of rural communities by at least 30 %, ensure technology transfer to rural communities, the private sector and institutions as part of a forest-energy nexus approach.
