Armenia’s Investigative Committee prepares 87 materials on apparent hindrance to exercise of voting rights in Sunday's elections
As of 9am Monday, 87 materials on apparent hindrance to the exercise of voting rights during Sunday’s snap parliamentary elections were received and prepared, as well as 2 criminal cases were received in the territorial subdivisions and the central office of Armenia’s Investigative Committee.
In a statement, the law enforcement agency said 64 of those 89 cases refer to attempts of multiple voting or voting instead of another person envisaged by Article 153 of the Criminal Code, 19 – to breaching the confidentiality of ballot envisaged by Article 154, 1 – to entering the polling station with a weapon and using violence at the polling station and the area next to it envisaged by Articles 154.4 and 149.2, 1 – to hindrance to the work of the observer envisaged by Article 149, 2 – to hindrance to implementation of the right to elect, 1 – to using violence at the polling station and the area next to it envisaged by Article 149.2, 1 – to preparing false ballots envisaged by Article 154.1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia.
In total, three criminal cases were initiated on entering the polling station with a weapon and using violence at the polling station and the area next to it, preparing false ballots and breaching the confidentiality of ballot. Within the last of the mentioned cases there are two suspects, with a signature bond imposed on them as a measure of restraint.
Additional materials are being prepared on the other 86 cases.
