Russian peacekeepers destroy ammunition found in Martuni district of Artsakh
The personnel of the humanitarian demining unit of the Russian peacekeeping contingent continue to work on the destruction of explosive objects found on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday.
"Explosive objects discovered by the mine clearance group, belonging to the first category of danger after transportation to the destruction site, are destroyed by explosive means," said Vladislav Kelzin, a soldier of the humanitarian mine clearance unit.
As the ministry said, daily, about 30 explosive devices, including mines and artillery shells of various calibers, were destroyed by Russian servicemen at the Ballydzha special training ground. Destruction is carried out by the method of detonation with the provision of all necessary safety measures during blasting operations.
The ammunition destroyed the day before by Russian sappers was found during the demining of the Martuni district.
Since November 23, 2020, 2,148 hectares of territory, more than 657 kilometers of roads have been cleared of unexploded ordnance, and 1,892 buildings have been checked by sappers. 25,640 explosive objects were found and neutralized. About 10 military personnel of the humanitarian demining unit are involved in the work on the disposal of EDs on a daily basis, the source added.
