Opposition figure says Pashinyan’s ‘steel mandate’ has different meaning
A peace agreement with Azerbaijan, which will amount to Armenia's capitulation, will be put on the political agenda in the next three months, Artur Ghazinyan, a member of the opposition Armenia bloc, told Pastinfo in an interview on Friday.
According to him, this agreement will be fully in accordance with Azerbaijan's interests, pushing Armenia into recognizing its territorial integrity and thus renouncing Artsakh.
“We will be forced to hand over their enclaves and establish a corridor under their sovereign control through our country's territory, which will mark the final capitulation of the Armenian statehood,” Ghazinyan said.
In his opinion, Nikol Pashinyan will try to do everything possible for the agreement to be ratified by the parliament, while any document concerning the territorial integrity of Armenia must be ratified only through a referendum, otherwise it will not have legal force.
“Nikol Pashinyan will avoid a referendum, he will try to resolve this issue through parliament, and our task should be to put this issue to a nationwide referendum. The steel [mandate] has the following meaning: I have received this mandate and have the right to hand over Armenia step by step,” Ghazinyan said.
