Yerevan kindergartens temporarily closed amid drinking water safety concerns
The kindergartens in Yerevan’s Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district have been temporarily closed due to concerns over the drinking water safety, according to a statement of the district posted on its official Facebook page.
The district authorities said they received alarming reports from some local residents that the tap water was murky or rusty brown.
The employees of the district administration have conveyed the concerns to the Veolia Jur CJSC.
“By the order of the administrative district head, the activity of the kindergartens of the district has temporarily been suspended as a precaution.
“Necessary procedures are being carried out with the water supply operator to determine the causes of water contamination and eliminate the consequences.
“The situation is under control,” reads the statement.
