Authorities continue repression against Armenia bloc members – statement
The current Armenian authorities continue to crack down on members of the opposition Armenia bloc led by second President Robert Kocharyan, it said in a statement on Thursday. The full text of the statement is provided below.
“The authorities continue repression against the Armenia bloc members, which started during the election period. These days, political persecution is being carried out and illegal actions are being taken against the Reviving Armenia Party board members, persons on the electoral list of the Armenia bloc.
Such new manifestations of the internal crisis further deepen the current political crisis in the country. Thus, the attempts to establish one-man rule in the country continue.
The purpose of these illegal actions is clear: to weaken the largest opposition faction in the parliament and to divert it from the struggle against the internal and external threats of the country.
The Armenia alliance strongly condemns such a conduct of the authorities.
We are determined to continue our fight against the regime that wreaked havoc on the country. All those responsible for political persecution and illegal actions will be held accountable."
