CC judges retired into the deliberations room for a decision on procedure of studying the election appeals
Judges of the Constitution Court of Armenia have retired into the deliberations room to decide on the procedure of studying the materials of the case, concerning the appeals to declare the June 20 elections to the National Assembly invalid.
To note, separate appeals have been lodged by the opposition Armenia bloc, I’m Honored bloc, Zartonk (Awakening) National Christian Party and Hayots Hayrenik (Armenian Homeland) Party, challenging the results of the June 20 snap parliamentary elections.The Court is examining all the appeals as part of one case since all concern the same issue.
CC Judge Arman Dilanyan declared at the hearing that the Constitutional Court shall hear the opinions of the judges of the Court and the proposals of the parties before rendering a procedural decision.
The representative of "I am Honoured" bloc Davit Harutyunyan stated that parties to the court hearing shall have equal opportunity to present their positions. In his words, after positions of each of the parties the responding party, which is the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) should provide answers. The Chairman of the CEC Tigran Mukuchyan, meanwhile, stated that clarifications and answers will require additional time. The representative of "Armenia" bloc Aram Vardevanyan proposed to establish 1.5 hours for each of the appeals.
After hearing the opinions and proposals of the participants of the Court proceedings, the judges left for the deliberations rooms to render a procedural decision on studying the materials of the case.
