MFA: Steps by the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan may further escalate the situation
Armenia's Foreign Ministry has issued a statement regarding the provocative action by Azerbaijan in adjacent territories of Yeraskh settlement, as a result of which Samvel Gagik Alaverdyan, a contract serviceman of the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia was fatally shot by a sniper.
"These provocative actions occurred after the infiltration of the Azerbaijani armed forces into the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia in Syunik and Gegharkunik regions, clearly demonstrate that official Baku is trying to create new areas of tension undermining regional peace and security," the statement said, condemning the encroachment against the Republic of Armenia, which it described as a gross violation of the fundamental principles of international law.
"Such steps undertaken by the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan may further escalate the situation, henceforth the Azerbaijani authorities bear full responsibility for the consequences," the ministry added.
