Total trade volume of government bonds in the first half of the year made more than AMD 30.7 billion - AMX
A relative increase in the trade volume has been recorded during 1st half of 2019-2021 according to the market data at Armenia Securities Exchange (AMX). The total trade volume of government bonds in the first half of the year made more than AMD 30.7 billion, showing a 27% increase as compared to H1, 2019, and a 46% decrease as compared to H1, 2020. 407 deals were concluded with government bonds, AMX reported.
The market value of government bonds for the same period passed the threshold of AMD 1 trillion, exceeding the index of the previous year by 35%. The number of government bond transactions increased by 95% compared to the first half of last year.
Compared to previous years 1st half, both market and trade volumes of corporate bonds have kept the growth dynamics. The market volume of corporate bonds made more than AMD 488 billion in the first half of the year, which is 31% more than in the same period of the previous year.
The volume of trade increased by 11% as compared to the first half of 2020, exceeding the threshold of AMD16 billion. Compared to the first half of 2018, the data of 2021 has more than doubled. The number of transactions is almost equal to the data of the previous year, and the average volume of transactions has increased by 11%. The number of corporate bonds traded on the stock exchange has also increased compared to previous years, reaching 109.
The fact that REPO transactions were an effective financial instrument comes to prove the fact that compared with the first quarter of 2018 the total volume of transactions is almost 8 times more, amounting to AMD14 billion. This index is 16% higher than the data of the previous half of the year, and has increased 4 times as compared to the 1st half of 2019․
The number of REPO transactions increased by 32% as compared to the first half of the previous year, and the average volume of transactions increased by 12%.
The trading volume of shares in the first half of the year decreased as compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching AMD 116 million. The market volume increased by 7% compared to the previous year, reaching AMD 159 billion. Compared to the previous year, the number of transactions has increased 9 times, reaching 146.
