The sole purpose of Azerbaijan and Turkey is the complete occupation of Armenia, security expert Tigran Abrahamyan, the head of the analytical center Henaket, said on Facebook on Thursday, referring to the fresh threats of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev against Armenia.

In his speech on Wednesday, Aliyev again called Armenian territories, including Yerevan, as “historical Azerbaijani lands” and said Azerbaijanis will eventually “return to their ancestral lands.”

“The statements of the Azerbaijani president on claims to Syunik, Sevan or Yerevan should be taken as fact, as an issue on the Azerbaijani agenda.

“Another thing is that the Armenian authorities have neither the will nor the desire to oppose this agenda,” Abrahamyan said.

He dismissed the claims that Aliyev makes such statements solely for propaganda purposes.

“I am sure that Azerbaijan and Turkey are pursuing a single goal – to achieve the complete occupation of Armenia with the use of various military, political and economic tools.

“Is already a technical issue where they will start from and in what timeframes it will be carried out,” the expert said.

He stated the authorities only accelerate these processes through their domestic and foreign policies.
