Tigran Abrahamyan: No news from two missing Armenian soldiers for three days already
There has been no information on the whereabouts of the two Armenian soldiers, who went missing from the Sotk-Khoznavar section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani former, for three days already, Armenian security expert Tigran Abrahamyan said on Facebook on Saturday.
Moreover, the circumstances of the incident and those responsible for it are still unclear, he underlined.
The Armenian military lost contact with the two soldiers, identified as Artur Nalbandyan and Aramayis Torosyan, on 14 July amid dense fog. They carried no arms at the time, the Defense Ministry said.
“The statement of the Defense Ministry about the presence of those two servicemen on the frontline without weapons has no justification,” said Abrahamyan, who heads the analytical center Henaket.
“And the explanation of the Defense Ministry that they were performing such a task, which did not require them to carry weapons, is absolutely acceptable.
“Especially in that part of the border, which is partially equipped, any movement without weapons is inadmissible in general.
“I hope in the near future we will have good news from our two servicemen, which, however, will not dispel some concerns over the issue,” he said.
