Human rights activist Avetik Ishkhanyan took to Facebook on Sunday to denounce the Armenian authorities for their failure to respond to the fresh Azerbaijani claims.

“Azerbaijan has officially unveiled its purpose – the destruction of Armenia. President Aliyev has spoken about Azerbaijan's territorial claims to Syunik, Gegharkunik and Yerevan several times already. The Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry now declares Armenia Western Azerbaijan,” he wrote.

“And there is nothing. Armenia not only officially, at least historically, does not deny the slanders of the enemy, but also does not make a tougher statement,” Ishkhanyan said.

He called attention to the fact that the statements of the Azerbaijani authorities sparked angry reactions from Russian political scientists Yevgeny Satanovsky and Konstantin Zatulin.

“I can't imagine that the leadership of any other "sovereign" country will enjoy such humiliation by the enemy and will continue the "constructive" negotiations with them, plaintively complaining to a EU official,” the activist said.
