Tigran Abrahamyan: No legal action launched against officials for leaving some 100 km of border unprotected
Armenian security expert Tigran Abrahamyan, the head of the analytical center Henaket, called for legal action against all those responsible for leaving some 100 km of the country’s border unprotected, due to which Azeri forces invaded Armenian territory without any hindrance in May.
“Regardless of whether [former Defense Minister] Vagharshak Harutyunyan will be appointed to a new position or he will simply be sent home, it in no way diminishes his responsibility for the unhindered incursion of the Azerbaijani troops into Gegharkunik and Syunik Provinces,” he wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
“Seven months after the 2020 war, leaving nearly 100 km of the border without protection and failing to take necessary security measures is a grave crime, while no legal action with appropriate procedures has been launched against the officials responsible for it so far.
“The prime minister, defense minister and chief of the military’s General Staff have not even explained why our border was unprotected and why no one, starting from themselves, has been held accountable for it,” Abrahamyan said.
