FIDE World Cup: Haik Martirosyan beats Ante Brkic in first game of Round 4
Armenian GM Haik Martirosyan defeated Croatia's Ante Brkic in the first game of Round 4 of FIDE World Cup 2021 on Thursday.
The second game of the round is scheduled to take place on Friday, the Chess Federation of Armenia reports.
FIDE World Cup is a knockout event featuring 206 players. It takes place from July 12 to August 6 in Krasnaya Polyana, near Sochi, Russia.
The prize fund is $1.9 million and the winner takes $110.000. Additionally, the finalists will qualify for the 2022 Candidates Tournament.
