Tigran Abrahamyan: Azerbaijani statements hint at its intention to put pressure on Armenia through border tensions
The Azerbaijani statements hint at its intention to put pressure on Armenia through border tensions to push the country into signing a new document, according to Armenian security expert, I’m Honored bloc MP Tigran Abrahamyan.
“The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan announced that Baku has not yet received a response from Armenia over the proposals to sign a peace agreement and start the border demarcation process,” the expert wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
“The Armenian authorities have spoken about the border demarcation, but they do not say anything about Azerbaijan's proposal to sign a peace agreement.
“It is possible that Azerbaijan is bluffing, however, if there is a proposal, no matter whether it has been tabled by mediators or directly by Azerbaijan, it must be made public,” Abrahamyan said, urging the authorities to deny the Azerbaijani claims if there is no such proposal.
“This issue is important from another point of view. The statements made by Baku hint at its intention to put pressure on Armenia through border tensions to get the document it wants.
“One can only assume what the content of this document is, but the fact that its signing is of great importance for Azerbaijan is evident from their undisguised interest and efforts,” he said.
