Armenian MPs hold a minute's silence for Artsakh war victims at first sitting of new parliament
Armenian lawmakers held a minute's silence in respect to those killed in the 2020 Artsakh war at the first sitting of the newly elected parliament on Monday.
The beginning of the work of the first session of the National Assembly of the 8th convocation was announced by 76-year-old Kurdish MP Knyaz Hasanov.
As the most senior lawmaker, he had also opened the first sessions of the National Assembly of the 6th and 7th convocations.
Hasanov is a representative of national minorities as an MP from the ruling Civil Contract Party.
He asked those present to pay tribute to the Artsakh war victims with a minute of silence at the beginning of the sitting.
“Probably, my age allows me to make a big request to you. I ask and I urge my Armenian brother-deputies to be united, tolerant, because for all the MPs present here, the priority is the security of the Armenian people, the development of the country and, most importantly, the honor of the Armenian. Therefore, please, let us maintain this high honor,” the MP said.
