Arsen Babayan deplores ‘very unpleasant sight’ at parliament
Arsen Babayan, a former deputy chief of the parliament staff and former head of the parliament press service, took to Facebook on Tuesday to denounce security officers for wearing uniforms at the National Assembly.
“There was an unwritten rule at the National Assembly aimd at highlighting democracy and the role of parliament: security officers did not wear uniforms, so that the country's most important institution would not be militarized and no one got the impression that it was a militarized body in any case,” Babayan wrote.
“Today I saw in the media dozens of officers in military uniforms patrolling the corridors of the parliament. It is a very unpleasant sight,” he said.
