Tigran Abrahamyan: Armenian government is 'hiding something'
The current Armenian authorities are “hiding something”, MP Tigran Abrahamyan from the opposition I’m Honored bloc stated on Friday, referring to the reports on the deployment of Russian border guards along the Voskepar section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
“The Armenian government is hiding something, otherwise it would have made a political statement, presenting the military-political situation in the region and the steps resulting from it, as well as the legal grounds that allowed it to apply to the Russian Federation to defend that part of the border,” the MP told reporters at the parliament.
Abrahamyan called attention to the fact that the authorities started talking about it only after media reports on the issue.
In response to a question about the possibility of surrendering the enclaves of the Soviet period in Armenia’s Tavush Province to Azerbaijan, the lawmaker said the total lack of information actually speaks of the possible risks. He said the issue of the handover of those territories cannot but raise concerns against the background of statements from various centers and capitals, since the public has already seen the government’s steps to hide various processes in the post-war period.
