CHW documents removal of sculptures in the park of the Shushi Museum of Fine Arts by Azeris
Caucasus Heritage Watch (CHW) has shared satellite imagery showing that between April 10 and June 5, 51 sculptures in the park of the Shushi Museum of Fine Arts were removed, and the area is completely cleared. The organisation has shared the images on its Facebook page and expressed convern about the condition of these artworks, which are the property of that museum.
CHW has reached the Azerbaijani authorities to disclose the location of the confiscated sculptures and plans for public access. The organization has also requested information whether the curators and conservationists have been involved in their removal and whether the removal is in line with Chapman Taylor's new master plan for the city.
To note, the area features sculptures by not only Armenian but also international sculptors.
