Armenia faces the risk of new Covid-19 surge, minister says
"Unfortunately, Armenia faces the risk of a new Covid-19 surge, and we are working to duly prepare for the start of the new academic year," Armenia's Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan has told the newly-appointed special representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Armenia Oleg Storozhenko during the meeting on Thursday.
As the press service at the ministry reported, on behalf of the WHO, Storozhenko expressed gratitude to the ministry for the active work and cooperation with local and international partners, assuring Armenia will continue to receive necessary assistance.
"The WhO Armenia Office and the WHO Regional Office for Europe remain fully committed to cooperate with its main partner - the ministry of health," Storozhenko noted.
The parties have also discussed the challenges ahead of the Armenian health system. Minister Avanesyan reminded that the five-year ambitious programme of the government envisages introduction of the mandatory health insurance.
