Lawyers ask court to release Goris community head on bail
The lawyers of Arush Arushanyan, the head of Goris community in Armenia’s Syunik Province, have filed a motion to the Court of General Jurisdiction in Syunik to release him on bail.
The court is set to hear the motion on September 10, one of the lawyers, Erik Aleksanyan said on Facebook on Friday.
“We would like to inform you that the defense lawyers have filed a motion to the court to replace the arrest with bail, since at this stage of the trial there are all the prerequisites for the release of Arush Arushanyan on bail,” he said, adding they will thoroughly substantiate their petition at the court hearing.
Arush Arushanyan has been placed under arrest for two months since 16 July. He is charged with offering bribes to two people to get them to vote in favor of the opposition Armenia bloc in June 20 snap parliamentary elections.
