Slab tombs discovered in Armenia’s Vanadzor during construction
During the third stage of construction work on the modernization of the water supply system in Vanadzor, an urban municipal community and the third-largest city in Armenia, on September 4, slab tombs were discovered at the 2nd Khndzorut Street section.
According to initial inspection, they date back to the 3rd millennium BC, Chief Architect of Vanadzor Suren Abovyan said on Facebook on Sunday.
“In accordance with the procedure established by law, the work was suspended and I applied to the competent authorities. A team of archaeologists inspected the findings on site to set the stage for further work.
“These small findings also confirm that Vanadzor was inhabited and had a high culture 5,000 years ago,” Abovyan said.
