Ombudsman presented new report about Azerbaijan's resposnibility for torture and inhuman treatment of Armenian prisoners
Armenia's Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan presented on Wednesday a new special report on state responsibility of Azerbaijan for torture and inhuman treatment of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians during the Nagorno-Karabakh war in 2020. The report covers the state responsibility of Azerbaijan for the gross violation of the rights of Armenians captives, cases of torture and degrading treatment by Azerbaijani armed forces, the conditions of detention since capture and legal protection of the civilians. Tatoyan informed that the report provides in-depth factual information and is based on exclusive evidence.
"All the work for compiling the report, including the analysis and studies were realized in line with internationally accepted methods and principles which have ensured the veracity of the presented data," Tatoyan stressed.
The report is written in English and will be published after the press conference along with obtained evidence concerning both prisoners of war and civilians.
"The evidence has been checked from different sources and that is the reason we insist the the document has the highest level of authenticity," said Tatoyan.
