Simon Babayan elected new head of Armenia’s Chamber of Advocates
Simon Babayan was overwhelmingly elected as new Chairman of the Chamber of Advocates of Armenia on Sunday.
937 out of the 1,111 advocates, who took part in the vote, backed Babayan’s candidacy. He is set to take office on October 5, the outgoing Chamber of Advocates head, Ara Zohrabyan, said in a Facebook post.
Congratulating Simon Babayan, Zohrabyan described him as a “good lawyer, lecturer, scholar, experienced and conscientious manager”.
“The advocates have chosen independence, unity, the path of preserving and developing the achievements. They rejected the path to destruction, chaos and gossip.
“I would like to thank the advocates who voted for independence and unity. Together we stand strong!” Zohrabyan said.
“I will deliver my closing remarks on the activity of the Chamber of Advocates in the previous years on 5 October 2021,” he added.
