Armenia’s CEC denies registration for Communist Party for Goris elections
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia has denied the registration request of the Communist Party for the upcoming elections in the Goris community of Syunik Province, the CEC told Panorama.am.
Four political forces submitted a bid to participate in the elections to the Council of Elders to be held in Goris on October 17.
They included the alliance led by the incumbent Goris community head, Arush Arushanyan, who is currently under arrest, the ruling Civil Contract party, the Communist Party and the Armenian National Congress Party.
On October 17, local self-government elections under the proportional electoral system will be held in Goris, Meghri, Tatev, Tegh, Dilijan and Gyumri communities. The nomination of candidates took place from 2 to 12 September. The registration of the electoral lists of the parties and blocs completed on September 17.
The election campaign is scheduled to start on September 22 and end on October 15. The ballot papers will be printed on October 7-14, the CEC said.
