Armenian actress, translator, publicist Anahit Topchyan dies at the age of 74
Eminent Armenian actress, Honored Artist of RA, member of the National Cinema Center of Armenia Anahit Topchyan died on Monday. The news was shared by the National Cinema Center.
"Anahit Topchyan's talent and charm have left many beloved roles in the heritage of Armenian theatre and cinematography. For long years, the beloved actress worked at Hrachya Ghaplanyan Drama Theatre in Yerevan, creating numerous perpetual and valuable characters in the theatre world," the Cinema Center said in a message, adding Topchyan's talent ranked her high in the Armenian cinematography as well, deserving the affection and sympathy of the public.
To note, Topchyan was born on August 21, in 1947, in Artik town. In 1971, she graduated the Russian Philology Department of the Yerevan State University. In 1967-1991, she worked at Yerevan Drama Theatre after Hrachya Ghaplanyan and played more than 100 roles in theatre, cinema, radio and TV theatre. In 1990, Topchyan established her own theatre and toured number of countries acting as theatre director, text author, actress and artistic director.
She also published number of articles on art, collections, translations from French literature. Her articles have been translated into French, Spanish, German, English, Romanian, Georgian.
In 2010, Topchyan received "The Armenian in the beginning of the 21st century" award for her novel "Disappearance."
Anahit Topchyan was the wife of writer and literary critic Alexandr Topchyan who had passed away on September 3.
