Vardan Voskanyan: Choice of area for Iranian military exercises ‘sends out clear signals’
Armenian expert on Iran Vardan Voskanyan commented on the military exercises being conducted by Iran on the border with Azerbaijan.
“The area of Iranian military exercises on the border of the artificial formation called Azerbaijan is quite remarkable in itself,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday.
“Judging by the news disseminated by Iranian-language sources, it covers almost the entire length of the Iranian border with the Talysh-populated regions of Azerbaijan.
“Considering that the Talysh problem has recently aggravated to a certain extent in Azerbaijan, leading even to one of the Talysh organizations with a very moderate stance expressing serious discontent, the choice of the area for Iranian military exercises sends out several clear signals at once,” Voskanyan said.
According to the expert, speaking about the issue after last Friday’s prayers, an Iranian cleric said, “Do not play with the lion's tail”.
Voskanyan also shared a photo showing the activity of “Iranian flying objects” in the area of military exercises.
