Parliamentary hearings on community enlargement launched at the National Assembly
Parliamentary hearing on the community enlargement have started at the National Assembly of Armenia on Wednesday. "The consolidation of the communities is positive process," Vahe Ghulamyan, the Chair of NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Protection told during the opening remarks.
In his words, the programme envisages making amendments to the Law on ‘’Administrative-Territorial Division of the Republic of Armenia" and to the "Law on Local Self-Government".
He reminded that the community enlargement concept was adopted in 2011. 54 community enlargement programs have been implemented since February 14, 2016, forming 54 communities as a result of the unification of 486 communities.
According to the package of draft laws under consideration it is planned to consolidate 441 communities into 37 enlarged communities. The the package of draft laws was earlier approved by the Government.
