Armenian expert: IRGC deploys mostly offensive military equipment and manpower to border with Azerbaijan
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has deployed mostly offensive military equipment and manpower to the Iran-Azerbaijan border area, Armenian expert on Iran Garik Misakyan said late on Wednesday, citing Iranian media reports.
"The IRGC has sent the 31st Ashura Division formed during the Iran-Iraq war, which carries out special operations, to the area near Araks River bank,” the expert wrote on Facebook.
A large number of armored vehicles, tanks intended for offensive warfare, armored personnel carriers, missile and artillery systems, including 122-mm multiple rocket launchers and Fajr-3 missile systems, have been deployed to the border with Azerbaijan, he said.
“The IRGC forces launched reconnaissance UAVs from the city of Ardabil and also used new Iranian Qods Mohajer-6 drones with a maximum speed of 250 kilometers per hour and a range of 2,000 km, which are equipped with laser-guided missiles.
“At the same time it is noted that from the two missile bases of the IRGC Aerospace Force deployed in Tabriz, high-precision ballistic missiles can easily hit even the military base in Kurdamir near Baku or other military bases," Misakyan said.
