The Minsk Group Co-Chairs reaffirmed their commitment - Foreign Ministry
On September 23, Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan met with OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs (Andrew Schofer of the United States of America, Stephane Visconti of France, and Igor Khovaev of the Russian Federation) on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office (PRCiO) Andrzej Kasprzyk participated in the meeting, the press department at the ministry reported.
The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues concerning the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, stressing the need to resume the peace process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship which will contribute to the establishment of peace and security in the region.
FM Mirzoyan expressed Armenia's support of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs' statement after the 44-day war which outline the comprehensive and lasting solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict based on known principles and elements. During the meeting, the sides also highlighted the implementation of the steps aimed at de-escalating the situation in the region.
The Minister and the Co-Chairs next exchanged views on addressing the humanitarian issues. In this respect the Armenian FM specifically emphasized the speedy repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and captured civilians held in Azerbaijan.
It is noted that the Co-Chairs then hosted both Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan at a joint meeting, where FM Mirzoyan again voiced the readiness of the Armenia side to resume the NK peace process within the Minsk Group format and reiterated position on need for de-escalation and addressing humanitarian issues.
The Co-Chairs reaffirmed their commitment to continue working with the sides to find comprehensive solutions to all remaining issues related to or resulting from the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in accordance with their mandate.
