Artur Vanetsyan: Artsakh issue should be solved with consideration of the inseparable right of people’s self-determination
The head of "I have Honour" faction at parliament Artur Vanetsyan and the Secretary Hayk Mamijanyan met with the UK Ambassador to Armenia John Gallagher on Tuesday, the parliament press service reported.
Welcoming the Ambassador, Artur Vanetsyan touched upon the irreversible consequences of the 44-day war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh. The Head of the Faction has underlined that Azerbaijan does not return the Armenian prisoners of war and the other detained persons, which the latter obligated by November 9 statement. He also spoke about the inhuman attitude towards the captives detained in that country, as well as the ongoing false judicial processes.
Vanestyan expressed conviction that the Artsakh issue should be solved within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship, maintaining the inseparable right of the Artsakh people’s self-determination. He considered inadmissible the encroachments of the Azerbaijani armed forms towards the RA sovereign territory.
John Gallagher in his turn the settlement of the Artsakh problem within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship. He has talked about the Modern Parliament for a Modern Armenia project, which is also implemented with the support of the British Government. The project is directed to the development of the parliament capacities.
The agenda of the possible cooperation between opposition and power in the legislative work was referred to.
