Serzh Sargsyan: Talks within OSCE Minsk Group will resume
Armenia’s third President Serzh Sargsyan, the leader of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), expressed his strong conviction that the Nagorno-Karabakh talks under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group will resume.
"I have a strong conviction that the negotiations within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group will resume," Sargsyan said after his speech at the RPA conference on Sunday, responding to a question.
He stated that the “tough stance of the Azerbaijani leadership is easing”, recalling that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev had earlier said he had nothing to discuss with the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, but later he expressed readiness to meet with the mediators.
"There will definitely be talks. But it cannot be a guarantee that the Minsk Group will resolve our issue if we remain inert, give up our demands and fail to convince people once again that the existence of Karabakh Armenians is impossible within Azerbaijan,” Sargsyan stressed.
"This work of bringing evidence, arguments must be continuous. Unfortunately, the authorities have poured water to Azerbaijan's mill with their numerous statements, including on the treatment of Armenian prisoners of war, the alleged Azerbaijani territories," he noted.
