The issue of Armenian prisoners and civilians kept in Azerbaijan raised during the meeting of Speaker Simonyan and FM Lavrov
Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Alen Simonyan, who is paying official visit to Russia, met on October 4 with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the press department at parliament reported.
According to the source, the parties discussed in detail the situation in the region, focusing on elimination of the issues to establish lasting peace in the region. In this regard, the return of Armenian prisoners and civilians kept in Azerbaijan was highlighted.
The parties touched upon Armenian-Russian cooperation in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. Simonyan and Lavrov emphasized the role of parliaments to strengthen and develop the bilateral cooperation.
The cooperation within parliamentary assemblies of CIS and CSTO was bilaterally stressed, considering the priorities of Armenia's chairmanship, the source said.
