Around 100 Armenian trucks pass through Upper Lars checkpoint daily
Stepantsminda-Lars highway is open at present, the Armenian Embassy in Georgia confirmed to Aliq Media. "The main reason for accumulation of trucks on the road from Georgia to Russia is the huge traffic flow and the ongoing construction works on the Russian side of the checkpoint, where reconstruction works are underway," the Embassy representative has told the news outlet.
According to the source, due to the ongoing works, around 400 trucks pass through the checkpoint daily, 100 of which are Armenian vehicles.
"The Armenian Embassy in Georgia is in close contact with relevant bodies of Georgia, while the Embassy representatives visit the checkpoint from time to time to get familiarized with the situation and provide with food and essential items," the source said.
