Lawyer: Armenian authorities seek to hastily change labor, public service laws ahead of October 14
The Armenian authorities seek to change the labor and public service laws before the mandatory requirement to get Covid-19 shots or submit a negative PCR test result for employees comes into force on 14 October, lawyer Robert Hayrapetyan said.
"Ahead of October 14, the authorities have hastily drafted bills on amendments and supplements to the Labor Code and the law "On Public Service", which would establish the grounds for banning an employee from coming to work, terminating an employment contract by the employer, preventing a public office holder or public servant from coming to work and suspending or dismissing them for cases when an employee refuses to get vaccinated or submit a negative Covid-19 test certificate,” he wrote on Facebook on Sunday.
“The most ridiculous thing is that only the Covid-19 statistics are presented in the rationale for legislative changes.
“This apparently unlawful legislative initiative is yet another fact that will help indirectly pressure citizens to get vaccinated and will overwhelm the courts with lawsuits.
“P.S. I hope that the Constitutional Court will make a reasonable decision in a few days,” the lawyer said.
