Armenian government submitted no security bill to parliament for over 2 months, says opposition MP
The Armenian government has submitted no security bill to the National Assembly for more than two months, MP Gegham Manukyan from the opposition Armenia faction told reporters on Tuesday.
“After the 44-day war, the authorities repeatedly raised security issues, stressing the need for army reforms, however the Armenian government has not submitted any legislative initiative on security issues to the National Assembly for more than two months,” the MP said.
According to him, what government members announce formally, is not put into practice in reality. Manukyan stated that the attempt of the opposition factions to hold a special sitting has been hindered by the chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Defense and Security and the government for the third time already.
In addition, he said that MPs do not have the opportunity to review the secret part of the draft state budget related to security spending and many other issues.
"Of the MPs who applied in August, no one has received this right so far. Now the draft budget is already in the National Assembly and we have no opportunity to fully study it," Manukyan added.
