Taguhi Tovmasyan: Why couldn't we manage to remove all exhibits from museums that came under Azerbaijani control
"Why did we fail to save all exhibits from museums in Shushi and other settlements before they came under the Azerbaijani control. We left museum exhibits to Azerbaijan as a result of the war. It is not only painful but a serious legal issue," Lawmaker Taguhi Tovmasyan, the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs stated on Thursday. Tovmasyan's remarks came at the working discussion at parliament on "Artsakh Republic: Preservation of Armenian cultural and religious heritage left under Azerbaijani control."
Tovmasyan reminded that a criminal case had been instituted at the Investigative Committee of the Artsakh Republic over the case.
"I had a discussion with the Head of the Committee who promised to come up with clarifications after some time of the investigation. I plan to hold another meeting to discuss the course of the investigation to find out and identify people who were responsible for removing the museum exhibits which we gifted to Azerbaijan during the mysterious loss of Shushi,"Tovmasyan said.
To remind, according to the report of the Artsakh Ombudsman's Office 8 state museums and galleries with 19311 exhibits, as well as "Shushi Carpet Museum" and "Shushi Armenian Money Museum" operating on a private basis came under Azerbaijani control as a result of the 44-day was in 2020.
