Court of Appeals dismisses complaint over detention of ex-Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan
The Court of Appeals on Friday dismissed the motion filed over the detention of ex-Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan. "The Court dismissed the complaint," ex minister's lawyer Sergey Hovyannisyan told reporters outside the Court building. The appeal had been filed over the ruling on the preventive measure for Tonoyan who has been in pre-trial custody since September 30.
"The defense team has yet to receive the copy of the ruling and to get familiarized with the content. Considering the arguments that were included in the appeal, I believe it should have been granted." \
It is noted that the ex-minister's lawyers plan to appeal the latest ruling at a higher court.
To remind, Davit Tonoyan was detained on suspicion of embezzlement of large sums of money on September 30. Tonoyan denies the charges.
