SIS didn't allow Seyran Ohanyan to leave for Russia to attend CSTO Parliamentary Assembly session
Armenia's Special Investigation Service didn't allow the Head of "Armenia" opposition faction, ex-defense minister Seyran Ohanyan to leave for St. Petersburg to participate in the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly session on defense, the political force said in a statement on Saturday.
According to it, the decision comes as a preventive measure against Ohanyan as part of a criminal proceedings with expired period which is a mockery of the law.
"Another violation of the right to inviolability of opposition deputies Seyran Iranian and Armen Gevorgyan, when experienced figures in interactions with foreign partners are simply refused to represent Armenia at international organizations. This speaks of the erosion of democracy in our country," the bloc said.
The statement also questions the reasonability of the decision, asking whether the SIS investigators served the interests of Armenia or a third country while making it.
