'Peace' advocated by our authorities implies our losses to continue in peaceful way - Tigran Abrahamyan
Lawmaker from opposition "I have Honour" faction Tigran Abrahamyan has received the response from Defense Minister to his inquiry about the reforms underway in the Armed Forces following the 44-day war.
At a briefing with reporters, Abrahamyan reminded that he had asked for clarifications whether analyses had been conducted over the war, what issues were reveled and what actions undertaken to address them.
"The letter from the minister says in several lines that works for comprehensive analysis of the 44-day war continue at the General Staff of the Armed Forces. The Armed Forces have launched the process for structural and substantive reforms which are not subject to disclosure," Abrahamyan cited the letter.
In the words of the lawmaker, the letter contains number of technical contradictions. "On one hand it says comprehensive analysis continue, on the other hand, it speaks of the structural and substantive reforms based on the findings." Abrahamyan questioned the reasonibility of initiated changes in the system considering the analysis are not complete.
"I have turned to the minister as a member of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Security and Defense matters, and it turned out the information is closed for not only ordinary citizens but also the members of the committee," said Abrahamyan.
The opposition lawmaker recalled that Pashinyan and his team had handed over 10 regions as a result of the war and after it and then started advocating for the 'era of peace.' "This implies our losses will continue not in military but this time in a peaceful way," stressed Abrahamyan. "We concede or lose not only our territories but also our chance to recover and become a competitive and viable state in 5-15 years in our region," added Abrahamyan.
