Hanrapetutyun Party wins Meghri elections
The Hanrapetutyun (Republic) Party has won the local elections in the Meghri community of Armenia's Syunik Province.
Politician Bagrat Zakaryan topped the party’s electoral list.
Preliminary results shared on Facebook by Hanrapetutyun member Ani Khachatryan show that the party garnered 42.8% of the vote, the ruling Civil Contract party – 32.8%, the Liberal Party - 14.4% and the Aprelu Yerkir party – 9.8%.
Local government elections were held in nine communities of Armenia on Sunday. The voter turnout stood at 33.23% as 55,410 out of 166,753 eligible voters cast ballots in local elections.
The highest turnout was recorded in the village of Tatev with 62.66% and the lowest turnout in Gyumri with 24.14%.
