Center for Strategic Research head slams Armenian Defense Ministry’s latest statement
Head of the Center for Strategic Research Alvina Aghababyan has strongly condemned the statement of the Armenian Defense Ministry, which denies Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) Arman Tatoyan’s claims about the increased Azerbaijani activity in Gegharkunik Province.
The Armenian Defense Ministry issued a statement on Tuesday refuting the ombudsman's October 18 statement that the Azerbaijani troops, that have invaded Gegharkunik Province of Armenia, have built large shelters, stocked up on firewood and concreted the roads leading to their positions.
The ministry also denied Tatoyan’s claims that the construction of new roads continues, the number of soldiers and weapons at the positions has increased and Azerbaijanis are engaged in active engineering and reinforcement works.
“It would have been better if you had written “from the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry” at the end of the statement, because the text of the statement released by you could have been written only in Azerbaijan and by an Azerbaijani,” Aghababyan wrote on Facebook.
“I wonder why you didn't write at the end that the Azerbaijani armed forces "didn't intrude into the territory of the Republic of Armenia in Gegharkunik", saying that they are on "their sovereign territory"? Did you leave it for the next time?” she said.
