Arms dealer Davit Galstyan to remain in custody
Arms dealer Davit Galstyan, better known as Patron Davo, will remain in custody as the Yerevan Court of Appeals on Tuesday upheld a lower court ruling to arrest him, his lawyer Armen Harutyunyan told Pastinfo.
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction ruled to arrest Galstyan for two months on 30 September as part of a criminal investigation into large-scale embezzlement and abuses during the purchase of weapons for the Armenian military.
The decision of the Court of Appeals has not yet been received by the defense lawyers.
Davit Galstyan and Armenia’s former Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan are accused of embezzlement and fraud that cost the state around 2.3 billion drams ($4.7 million).
