Albert Hovhannisyan posthumously awarded with the highest title of Hero of Artsakh
Albert Hovhannisyan, a junior sergeant of the Armenian Armed Forces who was martyred while defending the homeland during the third Karabakh war in 2020, has been posthumously awarded with the highest title of "Hero of Artsakh."
During the war, the image of Albert Hovhannisyan firing artillery quickly became iconic and used by hundreds of media outlets around the world when covering the attacks on Artsakh by Azerbaijan.
His father, Artak Hovhannisyan, has published the decree of the Artsakh President along with the message.
"Albert, my son, I had thousands of occasions to be proud of you. You have now been awarded with the highest title of Hero of Artsakh. I am immensely grateful and blessed to be your father and at the same time punished for living deprived of your physical presence. Congratulations, my hero and artilleryman!" Hovhannisyan wrote.
