National Assembly Vice President Ishkhan Saghatelyan received on Wednesday Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Armenia Sergei Kopyrkin. As the press department at the National Assembly reported, the sides discussed a number of issues regarding the security situation in the region and underlined the important role of the Russian Federation in those processes. Ishkhan Saghatelyan conveyed his concern about the aggression being carried out towards the RA sovereign territory by the Azerbaijani armed forces.

The interlocutors touched upon the mission of the RF peacekeeping forces in the Artsakh Republic, the settlement of the Karabakh problem, also introducing their positions on the solution of the issues. Ishkhan Saghatelyan especially expressed his gratitude for the important role of the Russian side in the return of Armenian prisoners of war. Both sides highlighted the issue of immediately returning Armenian prisoners of war to homeland.

At the end of the meeting the sides underscored the necessity of the development of the inter-parliamentary and inter-party relations.
