Legendary cellist Steven Isserlis to perform in Yerevan
Legendary British cellist Steven Isserlis will perform with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex in Yerevan on October 27, the orchestra said.
The concert will be held as part of the 5th Armenia International Music Festival. The program features Arvo Pärt’s Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten, Alexey Shor’s Cello Concerto Musical Pilgrimage and Cello Concerto No 1 in A minor, Op 33 by Camille Saint-Saëns. The conductor is Sergey Smbatyan.
Steven Isserlis is acclaimed worldwide for his profound musicianship and technical mastery. He has enjoyed a distinguished career as both a soloist and chamber musician, appearing regularly with the world's leading orchestras and in recital at major festivals and venues.
The Armenia International Music Festival is organized by the European Foundation for Support of Culture in collaboration with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and with support from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
